your for you page is making you boring😬

Hi Reader!

Welcome to Week 2 of Content Camp 🏕️

If you just joined, welcome! And if you're back for week two, you already know: the lesson's on the feed, the real depth is right here. The feed is the trailer, your inbox is the full episode the examples, the stories, and the stuff we usually only share with paying clients.

This week's lesson is live on the feed here. Watch it for the quick version, but everything below stands on its own.

Okayyy now for sources of inspo, let's get into it.

Why everyone's content looks the same

Here's the uncomfortable truth: most people "find inspo" by scrolling the exact same feeds as everyone else in their niche. So it's natural that it all starts to blur together when you're using the same hooks, same audios, and same content formats. If your only input is social media, your output will look like everyone else's on social media. The way out is to feed yourself from places your competitors aren't looking.

The 5 places we actually pull from

  1. Vintage print. Old ads and magazines. Before analytics, one page had to stop you, so the copy and layouts were ruthless.
  2. Packaging & product design. The grocery aisle is a masterclass in what makes something pop vs. blend in.
  3. Stand-up comedy. Setup, tension, punchline is the exact structure of a reel that holds.
  4. Film. Opening scenes earn your attention in 30 seconds flat.
  5. Social, but with a twist. You can pull from it, you just adapt the mechanic instead of copying the post.

That last one is the whole game: when something stops your scroll, don't remake it. Ask why it worked (the hook, the pacing, the emotion, etc) THEN rebuild that mechanic with your own topic. Copying gives you one post. Understanding why it worked gives you a hundred.

Some of our best-performing content didn't come from another creator at all. It came from a random line in a book, a conversation over coffee, or a magazine spread from the 90s.

Your Week 2 Field Guide is here 📋

Every week, we will drop a new section of the Camp Seventh House Field Guide to go with that week's lesson. By August you'll have the whole thing filled out and your entire content foundation in one place.

This is Week 2 of 8: Sources of Inspiration. Inside you'll run the full inspiration hunt, learn to mine your own community for ideas (your comments and DMs are a goldmine most people ignore), and stretch a single idea into a whole week of content. It's where this lesson becomes an actual plan.

Fill it out however fits your style:

  • Print it and go old-school with a pen
  • Type into it right on your laptop
  • Screenshot it to your phone and mark it up in your Notes app on the go 📲
