Hi Reader!
Happy Week 6 of Content Camp 🏕️
If you're new, welcome! If you've been with us, you know the drill: the lesson's on the feed, the real depth is right here. The feed is the trailer and your email inbox is the full episode.
Missed last week? Catch up here before you dive in.
This week's lesson is already live on the feed → see the post. Watch it for the quick version, but everything below stands on its own.
Sooo… forget everything school taught you about being a “good presenter”
You know those morning-after FaceTime debriefs with your friends, the ones where you're recapping all the drama from night before, half laughing, not scripting what you’re going to say?
Turns out that exact energy is a six-figure skill. Everything you learned about being a "good presenter" (posture, projection, sounding sophisticated) actively works against you here. People aren't gravitating toward polished right now, they're gravitating toward content that feels like a call with a friend that they can resonate with.
It's a technique, not an accident
Some people naturally have the talent of making a stranger feel like a long-time friend through conversation, but for those of us who don’t, there are a few techniques you can use to have a similar effect.
Listen to the difference between these two sentences, same information, completely different delivery:
"We are a marketing agency based in chicago that specializes in social media. Our signature service is shooting one month of content in one day for our clients and we generate phenomenal results"
versus
"Okay so, we figured out the secret sauce of how to shoot an entire month of content in one day and our clients are LOVING IT. We’re booked solid for the next 2 months”
Read them both out loud. The second one is lower energy, less formal, more authentic. Nothing about the information changed, but everything about the trust changed.
How do you monetize this skill
Done right, this style builds trust and authority immediately, regardless of what you're talking about, because it feels like your friend or sibling telling you about something rather than a brand presenting to you. And that trust is exactly what creators are converting into six-figure incomes right now, promoting products and services in a way that feels like a recommendation, not an ad.
Your Week 6 Field Guide is here 📋
Every week, we will drop a new section of the Camp Seventh House Field Guide to go with that week's lesson. By mid-August you'll have the whole thing filled out and your entire content foundation in one place.
This is Week 6 of 8: Yapping on Camera. Inside, you'll run the rewrite test on your own words, break down the 3 shifts (energy, formality, authenticity), and script a full talking-to-camera debrief that you can film exactly as written.
And by popular request, the Field Guides are now fillable! Type your answers straight into the PDF, or print and screenshot if that's more your vibe
